Poland’s producer price index fell 6.4% year-on-year in December, following a revised decline of 5.1% the previous month. This brought the country’s inflation rate down to 10.9 percent, from 13.9% in November.

During the first quarter of 2023, carry-out and delivery sales in the Poland retail fuel market returned to double-digit growth, with Q1’23 sales growing by 22.6% and 16.7% year-on-year respectively. A strong TV campaign targeting the carry-out offering helped boost consumer awareness of this option, with a significant contribution from online channels.

The amendment of the Polish Act on Information on Prices introduces the obligation to inform consumers as part of promotions and sales that a product or service was offered at lower prices within 30 days before a discount was introduced. The information on the lowest price should be displayed in a generally accessible place and clearly visible to consumers, including on the given goods or services, directly next to them, or in the form of a notice, a mark, a label, an inscription or any other means. The amendment came into force on Jan. 9.
